New Restaurant Kuya Set to Open in Former Tin Angel Space on West End

A long-vacant West End Avenue building is finally getting new life. After sitting empty for six years, the former Tin Angel space at 3201 West End Ave. will soon welcome Kuya, a new restaurant concept.

Metro records show the project recently secured a $2 million build-out permit. The name “Kuya” comes from a Filipino term that translates to “elder brother” and is often used as an expression of respect or endearment.

Construction is being led by Nashville-based Artisan Build Construct, whose restaurant portfolio includes Noko and Margot Cafe & Wine Bar. Architecture firm Remick, also based in Nashville, is designing the space, adding Kuya to a list of notable projects that includes Sushi Bar, Federales, Dos Santos, and Sinatra Bar & Lounge.

Tin Angel, a Nashville dining staple for 25 years, closed its doors in March 2019 following the retirement of owners Rick and Vicki Bolson. The property was later purchased in 2023 by Grace Development for $1.3 million.

Kuya adds to the growing roster of new restaurants on West End, which saw the debut of Ford Fry’s Little Rey earlier this year. Additional details about Kuya, including its menu and opening timeline, have not yet been released.
