Tacos El Terry to Open in Former Losers Bar and Grille Building Downtown

A new Mexican restaurant is headed to downtown Nashville, taking over a well-known honky-tonk space.

Tacos El Terry will open at 111 Fourth Ave. S., in the former Losers Bar and Grille building, according to a Metro permit and recent business filings. The building was purchased earlier this year for $10 million by Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, the owner of Nashville’s Four Seasons Hotel and CEO of Grupo Denim.

Villarreal registered the Tacos El Terry business at the address on July 11. Plans filed with Metro show Remick Architecture leading the design work, which will involve selective demolition of walls, fixtures, equipment, and finishes to prepare the space.

While a website for Tacos El Terry exists, it currently offers only a simple promise of “authentic tacos.” Grupo Denim could not be reached for comment.

This marks Villarreal’s first known Nashville deal since his high-profile $165 million purchase of the Four Seasons Hotel in November 2022, just days before it officially opened.

The move comes amid a wave of changes to Lower Broadway’s dining and nightlife scene. Elia Group recently announced the closure of The Valentine at 312 Broadway for renovations with an unnamed celebrity partner, while Robert’s Western World is expanding into the former Jack’s Bar-B-Que space at 416A Broadway, acquired for $15 million in a record-breaking real estate deal.
