Legendary NYC Restaurant Veselka Opens in Nashville
A legendary New York City restaurant just picked Nashville for its first expansion market in 72 years.
Veselka, the iconic Ukrainian restaurant founded in New York’s East Village in 1954, has officially taken over the kitchen at Lakeside Lounge in East Nashville.
The restaurant is now serving its famous Ukrainian comfort food daily from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m., with dine-in, takeout and delivery available.
The Nashville menu includes Veselka’s bestselling pierogis, with flavors like braised beef, arugula and goat cheese, potato, chicken and veggie.
You’ll also find classics like beef stroganoff, potato latkes, matzo ball soup, chicken noodle soup and a chicken schnitzel sandwich.
Veselka describes its food as “Ukrainian soul food,” with many dishes based on family recipes that go back generations.
The family says East Nashville felt like a natural fit because of its similarities to New York’s East Village and Nashville’s growing food scene.
And this may only be the beginning. Veselka says a standalone Nashville restaurant could eventually be in the cards.
For now, you can find Veselka inside Lakeside Lounge at 921 Woodland Street in East Nashville.
