Fort Negley Park Guided Walking Tour
A half-mile guided walk through one of Nashville's most layered landscapes. The tour traces Fort Negley from a wooded hilltop outside the early 19th-century city, to the largest inland fortification built during the Civil War, through decades of neglect and restoration, to its recent recognition as a UNESCO site of memory.
It is an easy distance for most kids, and the visitors center keeps normal hours if anyone needs a break. Two practical notes before you load the car: the park is in the middle of Master Plan construction, so access to the historic fort structure at the top of the hill is closed for now, and parking is very limited — carpool if you can. The half-mile trail itself remains open.
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Free, with an RSVP requested through Metro Parks.
