“Pop-UpRight Shakespeare” is back by popular demand – and with a 2019 twist! After a fantastic first season of staged readings that popped up all over Nashville in mystery locations, this year The Nashville Shakespeare Festival will reveal the directors, the cast, AND the location of eight “upright” staged readings, but fans will have to wait to find out which of Shakespeare’s plays they’ll see!
Shakespeare buff? Try guessing the play before it’s staged! Check out Nashville Shakes on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) to follow a series of clues leading up to the performance of the show. Send a private message or email to submit a guess– if correct, you will win a prize at the Pop-Up and be entered into a drawing to make a cameo appearance in the show.
Kicking it all off is Pop-Up #1, directed by the Founding Artistic Director of the American Shakespeare Center, Jim Warren, on Sat, Feb 23rd at 2pm at Historic Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum, the 1799 Home of Judge John Overton located at 636 Farrell Parkway in Nashville. Mr. Warren has assembled a cast of 22 top-notch Nashville actors who will have just a couple of rehearsals before being on their feet, script-in-hand, in front of the audience.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. OR to buy into the whole experience for just $70, purchase a Pop-Up Pass, and get VIP reserved seating for all 8 plays. Walk-ups are also encouraged. Purchase tickets at TicketsNashville.com
