Rising singer/songwriter ONOLEIGH turns heartbreak into healing on her empowering new song “Waited Too Long,” arriving this Friday (6/12) – Pre-Save HERE. Blending raw vulnerability with unwavering strength, the track captures the moment you stop waiting for someone to be who you hoped they would be and finally choose yourself. Written by Onoleigh alongside Parker Matthews, Lukas Bracewell, Savannah Walters and Max Gall, “Waited Too Long” explores the freedom that comes with letting go, transforming disappointment into self-discovery and growth. Through vivid imagery and honest storytelling, the song serves as both a farewell to the past and a celebration of the strength found on the other side, culminating in one of its most poignant moments:
I grew tall in the light of my own sun
No longer chasing what won't come
I was caught up in the middle of thinking you were worth the fight
Now I'm a wildflower baby
I've been drinking from the tears I cried
“For a long time, I found myself waiting for people to become a better version of themselves, hoping things would eventually change, until I realized that growth is a choice you have to make for yourself,” shares Onoleigh. “I had to stop waiting, walk away and choose myself. Writing this song helped me process that journey and step into a new chapter where I could finally let my own light shine.”
Stepping forward as her most realized self, Onoleigh isn't just defining her own lane – she's building a bridge between who she's been and who she's becoming. As That Nashville Girl declares, “she's rooted in country, delivered with soul, and completely her own thing.” “Waited Too Long” follows her bold new anthem “Copy & Paste” which turns dating deja vu into something sharp, self-aware and undeniably fun. It's accompanying music video opens with a speed dating sequence that quickly reveals a cycle of familiar faces as she encounters the “same man in a different font.” Both tracks offer an early glimpse of Onoleigh's forthcoming project, expected to arrive later this Fall, alongside recently released track “Never Beg A Man.” Collaborating with 5X GRAMMY®-nominated producer, engineer and mixer Paul Moak and producer/songwriter ANTi, this next chapter showcases her signature powerhouse voice with a newfound intimacy and honesty.
The Mahomet, Illinois native released her debut collection FIRST RODEO EP last year, which has already surpassed one million streams – marking a defining breakthrough for the independent artist. Co-writing all five tracks, Onoleigh showcased “bold, emotionally charged” (All Country News) lyrics through “powerhouse vocals and vivid storytelling” (Tennessee Star), delivered with “remarkable force and confidence” (MusicRow). She carried that momentum onto the stage, delivering electrifying live performances and sharing bills with artists like KT Tunstall, Smokey Robinson and John Oates, among others.
