Your Guide to ‘Let Freedom Sing!’ — Nashville’s Official July 4th Event

“Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th” is Nashville’s official Independence Day celebration, produced annually by the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp in partnership with Metro Nashville government. It has grown from a modest riverfront event in the early 2000s into one of the largest free July 4th celebrations in the United States, consistently drawing 250,000 to 400,000 attendees across the full day.

The event occupies Nashville’s Riverfront Park — the stretch of green space along the Cumberland River between 1st Avenue South and the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge — with overflow crowds spilling into adjacent streets, parking structures, and the pedestrian bridge. The main stage faces west, toward the river, and the fireworks are launched from barges positioned on the water directly in front of it.

Entertainment

Programming runs from early afternoon through the fireworks finale. Multiple country artists perform on the main stage throughout the day, with a headline act closing the evening’s concert portion before the fireworks. Secondary stages and street performers keep the broader area activated for the crowds that arrive throughout the afternoon.

Food and Beverage

Vendor areas are set up throughout the park with food trucks, concession stands, and beer gardens. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages in sealed containers are permitted. Coolers are generally allowed subject to security inspection — check the current year’s rules on the official event page.

Accessibility

Designated ADA viewing areas with enhanced sightlines are available near the main stage. Accessible parking is located in the Riverfront Park garage with shuttle service to the event area. The NCVC’s event page publishes a full accessibility guide each spring.

Safety and Security

Metro Nashville Police and security personnel are present throughout the event area. Bag checks are conducted at entry points — small bags only, no backpacks over a certain size. Full security protocols are posted on the official Nashville July 4th event page ahead of the event.
