Nashville Fire Department Set for Major New Headquarters on Second Avenue
The Nashville Fire Department may soon be moving into a modern, centrally located headquarters as plans for a new 200,000-square-foot building head to Metro planners later this month.
On February 26, the proposal will go before the Metro Planning Department. If approved, the new facility will rise at 500 Second Avenue North, just steps from the State Capitol and in the heart of downtown Nashville.
The development calls for an eight-story structure featuring four levels of underground parking. Half of the building, approximately 100,000 square feet, will be dedicated exclusively to the Nashville Fire Department’s new headquarters.

Currently, the Fire Department’s administrative offices are spread across multiple locations throughout the city. The new site is designed to consolidate operations into one modern, efficient hub, improving coordination and making critical services more accessible.
The remaining 100,000 square feet will house space for other Metro departments, creating a centralized workspace for various public service divisions. This multi-agency design reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to improve government efficiency and collaboration.
If everything moves forward as scheduled on February 26, construction will mark a major milestone in Nashville’s continued downtown development and infrastructure upgrades. The new headquarters aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities while providing a cutting-edge home for first responders.
