MPD officer retiring after more than two decades
Nashville Police Department (MPD) Officer Allen Cox is retiring after more than 27 years of dedicated service.
Cox began his employment with MPD in May 1994. He has served in various roles and positions throughout his career with the department.
āI will miss the people most,ā Cox said when asked about his retirement. āIām looking forward to new adventures.ā
Cox was honored Friday, Dec. 3, during a ceremony at Nashville City Hall.
āIāve learned in 27 years that you can make mistakes, but you canāt look back at the mistakes because you wonāt see whatās coming at you,ā Cox said. āYou have two choices in life, be a part of the problem or part of the solution, and Iāve tried to be a part of the solution.ā
āWe wish Allen the best in his retirement,ā said City Manager Craig Tindall said. āKeep up the good fight, win the race, and keep the faith.ā
Cox graduated from Cleveland State Community College Police Academy and attended Middle Tennessee State University.
