Local Author Releases Dear My Favorite Human, aHeartfelt Guide for Kids and Their Pets

Local songwriter and mom Amy Rhodes has teamed up with illustrator Susan Ogburn to create Dear My Favorite Human, a charming new children’s book that officially launched on Sunday, April 27 at Experience Community Church in Nashville, TN.

The inspiration for the book came from Amy’s own home. When she couldn’t find a simple, engaging resource to help her two-year-old safely and kindly interact with the family’s dogs, she decided to write one herself. The result is Dear My Favorite Human, a sweet and approachable letter from a dog to the youngest members of the family, offering gentle, age-appropriate guidance on how to play respectfully and build trust with their furry friends.

Illustrator Susan Ogburn brought the story to life using artwork based on real families and their pets. Her illustrations capture everyday relatable moments between children and dogs, giving the book an authentic and personal feel.

“I never imagined myself writing a children’s book, but it has been nothing short of a dream,” said Rhodes. “From seeing others get so excited about it, to collaborating with Susan, the journey has been amazing so far.
