Jaxson Free Returns to His Artist Roots with New Single “Get Go”
Chart-topping songwriter Jaxson Free steps back into the spotlight with his brand-new single, “Get Go.” With a galloping beat, soothing acoustic guitar, and southern inflections, the track captures the fleeting nature of a situationship that was doomed from the start. Free’s raw and soulful vocals—equal parts gravelly and silky—take center stage, adding a weight and sincerity that cut straight to the heart.
The North Carolina native has already left his mark on the industry, penning hits for a staggering list of stars including Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Lana Del Rey, Quavo, and more. Since moving from Raleigh to Nashville and signing with Goat Island, Free has quickly become one of the most in-demand writers in the business. In just a short time, he has earned three Country No. 1 hits: Kane and Katelyn Brown’s “Thank God,” Kane Brown’s “I Can Feel It,” and Thomas Rhett’s recent multi-week chart-topper “After All The Bars Are Closed.”
Produced by Chris LaCorte and co-written with Jacob Hackworth, Ned Cameron, Adrien Nunez, Chase McDaniel, and LaCorte, “Get Go” marks Free’s first official single with Goose Island.
“My buddy, Chase, threw out the line ‘she was gone from the get go’ and I immediately thought back to a time I fell for this girl who always seemed like she had her sights somewhere else, but I couldn’t help myself and jumped in headfirst,” shares Free. “I feel like we’ve all had that kind of thing—when you get lost in the heat of it all and it’s hard to see through the smoke. When you fall for a candle in the wind, you’re left with nothing but ashes in the end.”
Alongside the release, Free dropped a lyric video that visually mirrors the theme of a love that went up in flames.
Free is currently working on new music and preparing to announce upcoming tour dates.
