How Some of Your Favorite Nashville Artists Are Celebrating Halloween

"I’m always going to dress up for Halloween, no matter how old I am!"

Have you ever started carving pumpkins or putting together your Halloween costume, took a bite of a Reese’s and thought to yourself, “I wonder what my favorite band does for Halloween?” Well, you’re in luck! Since Halloween is right around the corner, we decided to catch up with some of our favorite artists in Nashville to see how they’re celebrating the spooky day. They even revealed some of their favorite costumes to help you with any last minute ideas! Check it out!
CAROLINE MARQUARD
Swiss-born artist, Caroline Marquard, recently dropped her debut single, “Not A Rolling Stone,” which inspires her fans to stay positive in tough times. The country songstress is no stranger to perfecting Halloween costumes, so she’s here to give us a few helpful hints (especially when your costume doesn’t go as planned).

Favorite costume you’ve ever worn?
One year I was an angel and wore these huge white wings. I thought that was pretty epic. Halfway through the night I quickly changed out of my wings because they got too heavy and put on some metallic temporary tattoos to be a goddess!

Favorite Halloween candy?
Ooh that’s such a tough call because I have a huge sweet tooth. I have to go with the classic Milky way chocolate and twizzlers!

Favorite Halloween memory?
Trick or treating with my best friends when I was younger. We would walk around the whole neighborhood and fill up entire pillowcases with candy, then go home and trade each other for our favorite kinds.

How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
I will be with my family on a trip in Turkey. We are going to dress up, go to dinner and have our own little Halloween party. I can’t wait to see my parents, siblings and little two-year-old niece in her costume!

JENNY TOLMAN
Jenny Tolman is bringing back the sounds of traditional country music with her latest single, “Rock & Roll to my Country Soul.” She’s made appearances on CMT’s 12-Pack countdown, was featured in Rolling Stone, and thankfully for us, she has more new music on the way! As a self-proclaimed Halloween fanatic, you’re sure to learn a few tips and tricks from the Nashville native.

Favorite costume you’ve ever worn?
My mom made me an Esmeralda (from the Hunchback of Notre Dame) costume when I was in 3rd grade, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was my favorite movie, and I loved the idea of being a gypsy and thought they were so beautiful. Plus, it was the first time I got to wear big, gold hoop earrings, which have definitely stuck in my wardrobe as a staple 😉

Favorite Halloween candy?
I’m a super health nerd, haha, so I buy the organic candy. My favorite is Amy’s Organic Candy – the “chewy” flavor. Definitely not “healthy” but at least it’s organic, right?

Favorite Halloween memory?
Going to the pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins with my family is always my favorite memory to look back on when Halloween is approaching.

How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
I throw a Halloween party every year because it is my favorite holiday, so I get really into it! This year is my 3rd annual party, so I’m very excited to decorate my house and make scary, gluten-free food.
JENNY TOLMAN

Caroline Romano is the next teen pop sensation – think Lorde in her “Royals” days. After drawing inspiration from performances with pop-mainstays like Shawn Mendes and Daya, the songstress decided to release her empowering single “Come with Me.” Caroline even let us in on her favorite Disney princess costume from childhood. Check out her favorite memories below!

CAROLINE ROMANO

Favorite costume you’ve ever worn?
My favorite Halloween costume I’ve ever worn has to be the year I dressed up as Mulan. I was literally obsessed with Mulan when I was younger because she was so independent and different from the other Disney princesses. I was probably 6 years old, and I’m pretty sure I wore that costume for the entire month of October.

Favorite Halloween candy?
My favorite Halloween candy is Reese’s peanut butter cups, all the way.

Favorite Halloween memory?
I used to go to a Halloween party every year with my two best friends, and we would just trick or treat and eat candy all night. It was a tradition for so many years, so I’ll never forget all the memories I made with them. I can’t even pick a specific memory!

How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
I’m always going to dress up for Halloween, no matter how old I am! Although I’m not going to reveal my costume just yet 😉 I love to dress up my dogs and take a ton of pictures of them too! Of course, my family will be handing out candy to trick or treaters, but it’s just not the same as the good old days when I was trick or treating!!

BEARING TORCHES
Nashville rock band, Bearing Torches, is bursting onto the scene with their latest single, “Never Heard Bob Dylan,” which was inspired by legends Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Seeger, and Woodie Guthrie. We got to catch up with Jon Ellison to give us some of his favorite Halloween favorites.

Favorite costume you’ve ever worn?
My favorite costume that I ever wore was Zombie George Washington. A professional special effects make up lady turned me into the most realistic zombie George and it was so gross people couldn’t even look at me.

Favorite Halloween candy?
Anything Reese’s is really good but I’m a sucker for the old school candy corns.

Favorite Halloween memory?
I carried some pumpkins up on top of a high rise in Knoxville, TN and tossed them out into the middle of the main drag. Was pretty hilarious watching people in costumes try to figure out why it was raining pumpkins.

How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
Motorcycle trip to Palm Springs California!
HEIDI RAYE
Rising country star Heidi Raye recently released her latest single, “Lay Me On Down,” as the debut track from her new EP, Blame It On The Radio, out Friday, 10/26 – just in time for Halloween. See how she’s going to celebrate!

Favorite costume you’ve ever worn?
My favorite costume was about 8 years ago, my friend Heather and I went as Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg (Lonely Island); we sang the song and had dance moves – everyone thought we were two guys.

Favorite Halloween candy?
I’m a sucker for Reese’s cups.

Favorite Halloween memory?
When I was about 7 or 8, I made this crazy clown costume (cute clown, not scary clown) and spoke with a British accent and had the best time messing with people because no one knew who I was.

How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
This year I will be flying down to Daytona Beach on Halloween night, so I’m hoping Southwest has candy corn instead of pretzels!

  2. She flicked off the lights and pushed him against the wall. A frame fell face down on the floor and shattered next to them. She didn’t allow him to take notice. She bit at his bottom lip, tugging his face, commanding him to follow her lead as she walked backwards down the hallway, deeper into the darkness, her darkness. And he, submitting to her bestial strength, simply weaved his fingers into the rust of her hair and bowed to her dominion. Like a lowly, unassuming insect, captivated by her hellfire glow.

Halfway down the hall, she slammed him back first into the wall again, harder than before — no frames there that time. She clawed at his chest under his shirt as she ate his kiss once more and bit down his neck; the groans he breathed out into the obscurity flinched sharply as her fangs grew less and less forgiving.

His buckle caught the flash of lamplight seeping in from somewhere outside as she tugged at the leather strap of his belt. She ran her fingers up and back down the front of his chest, back down to his waist, and unclasped his belt, plucking it from the loops with a single sliding pull. Feverishly, she tore his pants open and moved them, along with his boxers, down just enough to reveal his smug erection. With both palms on his board-firm chest, she smirked at him, kissed him once more, a little softer than before, and squatted down before him.

  4. “Enough!” He (I presumed) walked up to me, demonstrating that I had a head of height in advantage, and gestured imperiously for Bekhat to move away from me. Given the circumstances, what could she do but obey? As she did so, a pair of the brutes moved from their line to flank her, though they did nothing more.

The little man drew from one sleeve a small stick, looking as though he had pulled it from a bush to scrape his teeth on his way over, and dragged it along the ground in a circle around me. As he completed the circle he spat on the joining and straightened again.

I grew alarmed as he drew a small knife from somewhere or other, but he only cut his own finger and splashed a few drops on to the dust. “Now, creature,” he said, looking me in the eyes at last. “Simply walk over my circle, return to your home, prove me wrong, and we shall trouble you no more.”
