NashVegas Exclusive: Video Premiere – Hear the Story Behind the Song with Country Singer/Songwriter Amy Wilcox

“This song really holds a special place in my heart.”

Singer/songwriter Amy Wilcox is definitely an artist to watch in country music. She has not only opened up for huge names in the genre, including Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Brothers Osborne, but she also starred as the lead on the A&E reality show, “Crazy Hearts.” At a turning point in both her career and personal life, Amy decided to pack up and head west – inspiring the music behind her new EP, West, which came out in March. West reflects the changes she’s faced over the past few years, and how she’s found her true sound by blazing her own trail and moving upward and onward.

Amy shared the story behind the song for one of the tracks off her latest EP, “Wastin’” exclusively with NashVegas. Go behind the scenes into the mind of a singer/songwriter, and see what Amy had to say about the inspiration of “Wastin’” in the video below!

“This song really holds a special place in my heart,” Amy speaks of the heartfelt track. “It was the first song that even started the idea of doing this new EP. The song kind of speaks for itself; it’s about self reflection of the past and hope towards the future,” Amy shares on the meaning of the magnetic song. She also says “Wastin’” is one of her favorite songs off the EP, and she wrote it on her own — in just one sitting!

Well Amy, “Wastin’” is definitely one of our favorites off the West EP here at NashVegas as well! We’re loving what we see so far from this young talent, and we can’t wait to see the heights Amy will reach. You can hear the talented songstress’s latest single, “Jailbird” below:
