Connecticut-based bagel shop is planning a Nashville expansion

PopUp Bagels, known for its grip-rip-dip style, is eyeing a location at 226 11th Ave. S., according to a permit filed with Metro, inside Gulch Crossing, owned by MarketStreet Enterprises. The development is already home to popular spots like Milk & Honey and Vui’s Juice Cafe.

While there is permit activity, PopUp Bagels has not confirmed or announced an opening in Nashville, according to a spokesperson for the brand. Once plans are finalized, PopUp Bagels will share more details.

In October 2024, PopUp Bagels did, however, confirm it was looking for Music City locations and partners.

“Oh hey there Nashville…yes we’re in town scoping out locations and potential partners for a shop in 2025!” PopUp Bagels posted to its Instagram at that time, captioning a photo of Jen Goldberg, founder Adam Goldberg’s wife, at The Lucky Bastard Saloon.

PopUp Bagels was founded in Connecticut in 2020 and launched a franchise program in late fall 2024. There are currently 14 locations across Florida, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

In late July, PopUp Bagels announced it had plans for 300 franchise locations across ten states, including Tennessee.

PopUp Bagels are served hot and meant to “rip and dip” into tubs of cream cheese or butter with flavors like scallion or jalapeno butter.

PopUp Bagels is among the top 10 bagel shops in New York City on Yelp and has been featured in The New York Times.
