DESCRIPTION:Ruby-throated hummingbirds are moving south right now\, and for a few weeks they are everywhere around the feeders and late-season flowers at Warner Park. This free\, all-ages morning builds a whole event around watching them go. \nThe banding station runs from 9 to 11 a.m. — researchers catch\, measure and release the birds\, and it is genuinely startling to see one up close in a person's hand. Around that there are observation and education stations\, face painting\, art activities\, and staff on hand with practical advice on what to plant and hang if you want hummingbirds in your own yard. \nNo registration required. Five hours is a generous window\, so there is no need to rush out the door at 9 — though the banding is the part that ends first.
