Bill to let private groups refuse to recognize same sex marriage passes Tennessee House

The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood), said the legislation clarifies that Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court case that granted same-sex couples the right to marry under the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the 14th Amendment, only applies to the government and other public entities because only the government and public entities are bound by the restrictions in those clauses of the 14th Amendment.
