On the evening of Wednesday, September 11, Paul Cauthen will once again be bringing his Big Velvet Revue to The Basement East. Curated and emceed by the outlaw revivalist, this official dirt-kicking event will feature performances by Cauthen, Jason Boland, Jack Ingram, Aubrie Sellers, Chris Shiflett, Quaker City Night Hawks, Jaime Wyatt and more.
ANTI- Records will be celebrating their 20th anniversary at the Mercy Lounge with an official showcase on Thursday night, September 12, highlighting their groundbreaking roster with performances by Darrin Bradbury, The Frothy Pit (Wynonna Judd and Cass McCombs), Jeremy Ivey, Son Little and Christopher Paul Stelling.
The following day on Friday, September 13, Kirby Brown will host “WRIXLAN, AMERICANA: An Exchange of Story and Song,” an artist-centric in-the-round session where the singer-songwriter gathers other musicians from the Americana music community. This AMERICANAFEST edition at City Winery Lounge includes Brown, Andrew Combs, Dawn Landes and Caroline Spence as they share their own inspirations and how the art of storytelling informs their songwriting.
That same Friday night, Americana musicians from the community will salute the music of 1969 with a unique event at The Basement East. The year that brought about man’s first landing on the moon catapulted America into the next decade. Emblematic acts of this time like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin had a lot to say as they created the soundtrack for this period of change. These pivotal musicians and their works will be honored by Nikki Lane, Ed Jurdi (The Band of Heathens), Bobby Rush – who will be performing his own classic from ’69 – and more. Whiskey Wolves of the West will be hosting while a stellar house band led by the group’s own Chase McGillis backs the evening’s performers.
Erin Rae invites festival-goers to The 5 Spot on Saturday evening, September 14, as she presents a musical tribute to The Carpenters, Glen Campbell, The Monkees and more. Inspired by the bubbly world of the Lawrence Welk Variety Show, Rae and bandleader Jordan Lehninghave curated a selection of tunes to be performed by Combs,Joshua Hedley, Logan Ledger, Caitlin Rose and more.
Also on Saturday night, The Travelin’ McCourys are set to take over the Cannery Ballroom, treating attendees to a musical jam with their Nashville friends the Gibson Brothers, Della Mae, Jacob Jolliff and more surprise guests.
