Abbi Scott Talks New Single, “Voodoo”

"I think the music industry needs more females all around"

Abbi Scott recently released her current single “Voodoo.” We had the opportunity to talk with her about it and some of her favorite places in Nashville! Check it out!

When and how did your passion for music start? My passion for music started when I was just a little girl. I would watch American Idol with my family, stand in front of the TV during commercials and sing into a hair brush. My parents always had music playing around the house ever since I was a very little girl. Growing up in such a music loving family, it was only appropriate that I became a music lover myself.

Your latest single, “Voodoo” was just released. What was your favorite part about recording this song?
My favorite part of recording “Voodoo” was being at the famous BlackBird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The musicians who played on this song were extremely talented and such a pleasure to work with. I loved the whole experience of making “Voodoo” come together.

You have spoken out saying that you think “the music industry needs a change.” Can you elaborate on that more? I think the music industry needs more females all around – more female producers, female players in the band and more female artists. I think we just need more females running the entire industry in general.

You have opened up for several of country music’s biggest stars which must be exciting! Have any of them given you any good advice?  I’ve been blessed with some amazing opportunities opening for some incredible artists. Lee Brice gave me some of the best advice. He said “No matter what the industry throws your way, work hard and good things will come your way.”

If you designed your own walking food tour of Nashville which restaurants/food sellers would be on your list of places to visit? My favorite places to eat in Nashville would be, of course, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, Double Dogs, M.L. Rose, Sushi O Sushi, Burger Republic, Demos and The Pharmacy.

What are some of your favorite venues to play in Music City? Honky Tonk Central, Belcourt Taps, Tootsies and the Plaza of the Bridgestone Arena!
