Nashville’s Michelin Night Arrives Oct. 21 at The Pinnacle

Five days from now, one of the restaurant world's most closely watched envelopes gets opened in Nashville. On the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Michelin Guide holds its American South ceremony at The Pinnacle, the live-music hall inside the Nashville Yards development, and chefs in the room will learn whether their restaurants earned a star or another distinction.

The night is invitation-only, so it is not one the public can crash, but it is one the whole city will be watching. The guide named Nashville as host on March 30 and said it intends to move the ceremony to a different city each year. Last year's debut selection was unveiled in Greenville, South Carolina, which makes this year's stop in Music City the first time the show has traveled.

What Nashville is defending

That first American South guide was the first U.S. regional selection the Michelin Guide had published, and it put Nashville's dining rooms on a very large map. Three restaurants earned one star each: Bastion in Wedgewood-Houston, Locust on 12th Avenue South, and The Catbird Seat on the fifth floor of a Gulch building on Eighth Avenue South. (We covered the Catbird Seat's other big honor, a AAA Five Diamond rating, earlier this year.)

Seven more Nashville spots landed on the Bib Gourmand list, the guide's shorthand for very good food at a friendlier price: Kisser, Peninsula, Red Headed Stranger, Sho Pizza Bar, SS Gai, St. Vito Focacceria and Uzbegim Halal Restaurant. The list is a tour of the city in miniature, running from East Nashville and McFerrin Park to Inglewood, the Gulch and West End.

Why the room matters

For a restaurant, a listing is a calendar event of its own, a reason for travelers to plan a trip around a table. That is why a ceremony in Nashville, rather than a livestream from somewhere else, carries weight. The people who cook, serve and run these rooms can be in the same building where the news lands, and the Nashville Yards neighborhood that houses The Pinnacle becomes the center of the food conversation for a night.

An exact start time was not part of the announcement, and attendance is limited to invited guests. What the guide has said is that stars and other distinctions for the 2026 American South selection will be revealed that evening.
