Fort Negley Park Guided Walking Tour

August 29 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Fort Negley is one of the most consequential pieces of ground in Nashville and one of the least understood. Saturday morning’s guided walk covers the whole arc — from wooded hillside outside the early city, to the fortress that held the Union stronghold, through restoration, neglect, and its recent recognition as a UNESCO site of memory.

It is a half-mile on foot and about ninety minutes, which lands it in range for school-age kids who can walk and listen. Worth knowing before you go: the park is in the middle of its Master Plan Phase 1 construction, so the historic fort structure at the top of the hill is closed and expected to reopen in the fall. The trail and visitors center are open, but parking is very limited — carpool if you can.

When: Saturday, August 29, 10–11:30 a.m.
Where: Fort Negley, 1100 Fort Negley Blvd, Nashville, TN 37203
